This exhibition features photographer Wendy Leung, and watercolourist Girija Kulkarni; two artists working in different mediums seeking to accomplish the same end.
'Awesome world' is all about nature.
Both artists capture the complexity of nature; exploring natural elements, shapes, hues, and tints.
Girija's style of negative painting creates an appearance of depth in unique artworks focused on flora and fauna.
Wendy's painterly floral photographs involve experimentation with different elements; photographic techniques and post-processing.
Celebrate the awesomeness found in the natural world.
Opening Celebration: Wednesday 11 March 2020 6pm - 8pm

Nature’s balance
March is the time of the equinox: when the sun crosses the plane of the equator, making night and day an equal length all over the world.
In the Southern Hemisphere, it's autumn, the weather starting to get cold; time to harvest. In the Northern Hemisphere, it’s spring, the weather is starting to get hot; time to plant. It brings perfect balance on Earth, day and night, hot and cold, planting and harvesting.

1. Tun Yun (Reunion)
Chinese New Year to me means family reunion (tūn yûn). Chinese sweet dumpling (toñg yuen) sounds like tūn yûn, although we don’t usually eat toñg yuen in Chinese New Year, but it represents family members reuniting and spending time together during this happy time of the year.
During Chinese New Year, all family members get together, although nowadays many have relatives living all over the world, but we try our best to find a chance to get together and we value this even more.
Family is like a tree, a backbone to support us. In the Pacific Model of Mental Health, Fonofale, Family is one factor that contribute to one’s mental health. I think whether it’s biological, or familylike, it’s ones valuable asset to celebrate.
Chinese New Year is a time to celebrate each other.
2. Yit Naau (Bustling)
New Year flower market, lantern festival, family & friends visiting each other, giving & receiving red pockets - Chinese New Year always represents a feeling of joy, happiness and bustling to me.

About The Exhibition
Food is an integral part of everyday life yet most of us don’t give it a second thought. We eat to celebrate and to comfort ourselves. To share a home cooked meal is a honour and a sure sign of love. Some of us eat for nutrition, some of us live to eat. New seasons are marked by fruits and the year is punctuated by different flavours. Food defines our cultures and eating together shape our friendships. We snack, we chow down, we dine and we share. So whatever your relationship to cuisine is I hope you enjoy this exploration of our food.

Artworks:
1. Ramune
A Japanese soft drink that is both a toy and a drink to a child. The interesting thing is you have to pop the marble down to open the bottle. The sizzling bubbles were a fascination to any child, and the sound it makes with the marble in a glass jar is surely a joy.
2. Dennis
Freckles, blonde hair, American lifestyle, skateboard, his creativity, tricks against bullies, I don’t know what it is that I was so attracted to Dennis the menace. Can you guess what this comfort food I have in mind?
